Today we continue or Bob Geldof Bashing, We have listener comments that take a ream of paper in printed form and squeeze in a short historical sound byte while playing some KICK ASS PodSafe music and we hear more about Adam Curry’s plans to start a record label. SWB - guess more than anyone else I had to listen to this one! After our conversations last night i still had work to do… so didn;t get to bed until 2am… and then up again at 7am and picked up this episode straightaway - y’all be still be in bed over there! You’re bobcast stuff was reasonably balanced - you didn’t flame me too much, though i still don’t think you got the point of live8… but that sort of proves your point!

It’s not that I don’t get THE point of Live8, it’s that I don’t share YOUR point on it.
Anyway, if you select Bob Geldof as your figure head you create an expectation. In this case a huge one, and it just didn’t happen. The magic wasn’t there.

I thought Live Aid was amazing…
I couldn’t even be bothered to watch Live 8.
…and yes, I do care. I leave for Swaziland in late October to visit and raise funds for an AIDS orphanage. I’m not interested in watching ailing rock stars f and blind. I’ve taken the decision to do something where I know I can help directly.

Paul - absolutely agree that direct action is by far the best option, just not open to everyone. We have friends we sponsor that go to africa to do similar stuff. I guess I’m just frustrated with the inaction of the major governments of the world (including ‘Old Europe’ - I probably share similar views to you on that too after reading your blog) when I believe it could be drastically changed.
Off topic (sorry SWB) - just been to your site and Blog - we’re practically neighbours. Getting your podlawer cast on BBC 5live (SWB - that’s a national channel in the uk) almost makes me want to tune into 5 again (my wife’s a FInstLEX too) … but then again too many podcasts to listen to radio anymore!
