Bum Rush Busted!!
If you are a podcaster, please please please, spread the word. It has come to my attention that the bumrushthecharts initiative was nothing but an elaborate media stunt by Podshow. It had nothing to do with social media but everything with making money. Some very reliable sources gave me some very disturbing facts… Now it’s up to you to further expose the hoax! It’s a total travesty that podcasters are being abused like this!!!

Well, some podcasts will become commercial sooner or later … just look at Adam Curry: he is the definition of commercial (can you get any slicker than him?).
I just hope the people who bought the song actually really liked the song, because then it’s money well spend

Good to hear your endorsement with Heineken and Senseo worked out. If ‘Burm Rush’ the charts actually worked the way you presented it (and it sounds like it did, good investigative work, your Tulsa policy connection is definitely working in favor of you here
), it is:
.
1) a horrible hoax played on the people who actually really paid 99 cents and didn’t get most of the money back because they were the actual musicians. Assuming that the band actually sucks, that would make it almost criminal
2) very interesting. Has anyone ever done this with CD’s, DVD’s, LP’s or any other media? Did anyone ever go out and buy 100000 copies or so of their own CD to get in the charts? Maybe this even shows that musicians are getting too large of a portion of the proceeds of each song sold through iTunes (just kidding).
3) The chances of the band actually getting a contract and people buying their songs is probably still very remote. They obviously suck when they have to go this low.

i told you the numbers around the world were interesting because they are, not because i was implying a conspiracy theory, which i find to be an absurd assertion.

There is no conspiracy, no IP addresses in eastern European countries, nor people by the name of Denise Corey… Well, there are conspiracies of course, and I am sure they have the interweb in eastern Europe and therefore IP addresses and even though I don’t know anyone by the name of Denise Corey (or Dean Whitebuns for that matter) I am sure somewhere on this rock we call earth there is a person, lady, girl by that exact name… I would not know.
I do however know that y’all been had! Happy belated April Fool’s day!

The problem with the Black Lab bumrush was that this band was already pretty well established. They were on the “OC” soundtrack, a tv show or two, etc.
I am doing a REAL bum rush-totally grassroots-with my band. I hope you will check it out and get interested in a REAL social media experiment!

Hello there, Happy April Fool’s Day!!!
A blonde phoned police to report that thieves had been in her car. “They’ve stolen the dashboard, the steering wheel, the brake pedal, even the accelerator,” she cried out.
However, before the police investigation could start, the phone rang a second time and the same voice came over the line. “Never mind, I got in the back seat by mistake.”
Happy April Fool’s Day!
