SWB Has left the country!

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

But not quite… Almost though, almost! Tomorrow I will embark on some serious “in the air” time. As much as I love my family here in Amsterdam, I wanna go home (play my guitar read Rolling Stone)! Highlights this trip:

- Seeing my mother. She is in her own little place, but she is happy there
- My sister’s weding, it was beautiful! Marleen, Gill, I love you guys!
- Hanging out at my (other) sister’s. It’s always so relaxed to be with you.
- Jan Polet, we have to do this more often, it was GREAT GREAT fun. Next time we’ll record something.

So here I am, writing one last blog post before traveling back. Although I grew up in this crazy city, I am used (by now) to less chaos. I love Amsterdam, but damn, those tourist (of which I am one now), they just bug me… Lots of mixed emotions. It was great, but it will also be great to get back home. What a wonderful trip I had… Talk to you all soon, sleep well!

SWB dans le Pays-Bas

(SWB in Holland for all you nimrods that don’t speak French, and why should you?)

From a rainy Amsterdam, it’s Skinny White Boy! Happy 4th of July y’all! And if you happen to live in a country that doesn’t celebrate Independence Day… well, happy 4th anyway. Right before I left (literally seconds before I left the house on my way to the airport) I stuffed a jacket in my “roll onboard” suitcase. The missus asked what the hey I needed a jacket for. After all it’s July… Right? Have you been in Amsterdam lately? In Europe for that matter? Wimbledon is an excercise in how quickly you can cover a tennis court with saran wrap. Matter of fact, even in the “home country” the rain is so bad, we can’t even go anywhere. in 18 counties in kansas they declared a state of emergency. I have been told (but haven’t confirmed yet) that an oil refinery in South East Kansas got flooded and spilled thousands of gallons of crude oil into the streets… Yummy!

I guess I’ll have another beer!
