Unless I am not understanding VOiP correctly, and there is every indication I don't, it can be done with just a client (or somehow an app with built-in server). After all, Vonage sells a thumb drive that basically turns every PC into a VoIP phone. All that is is a piece of software.... It would be cooler if it had its own server built in.
